ABOUT US
We are a group of approximately 25 bobbin lacemakers based in Princes Risborough. We are a self-help group, so we don't actually teach lace but we are very happy to assist if anyone needs pointing in the right direction. We meet for a chance to make lace; exchange ideas and projects; and have a good old natter! The projects our members take on vary greatly and our lacemaking experience ranges from 6 months to 60 years! We are a friendly bunch and our meetings are as much about socialising as making lace.
We offer a variety of meeting types in order to try and accommodate the needs of everyone. From day time to eveing to weekend; from beginners to those wishing to try more complicated lace techniques, there's something for everyone.
One of the highlights on our calendar is our annual Lace Day, which will soon be celebrating its 20th anniversary. It features a lace exhibition, suppliers and delicious cakes!
We have a library full of lace books containing thousands of patterns and project ideas (and instructions!) for many different types of lace, which are available for members to borrow free of charge.
We are very passionate about our craft, particularly as it is a Buckinghamshire tradition. We are all too aware that sadly the number of lacemakers is dwindling across the world, so we are keen to spread the word and spark an interest. Our members often go out and about to demonstrate or give talks about lacemaking.
